Weston Drama Workshop: The Jungle Book

Sit alongside a troupe of storytellers as they gather under the stars. The crickets faintly sing as a drum beat echoes in the night, and you are transported to the jungle, where the lives and ideals of man and beast collide, and the law of the jungle must be obeyed. Here, we meet Mowgli, a young boy lost by his parents when fleeing the tiger, Shere Khan. Watch as he is raised by wolves, and educated by the bear Baloo and the panther Bagheera. Featuring mesmerizing puppetry and stunning live music, this new adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s enchanted tale asks: Who is your true family? Those who look the same as you or those who love and nurture you? Here, the tales become a powerful examination of an emerging democracy, and the forces that threaten it. Based on a version by the celebrated director Tim Supple, this adaptation was written by critically acclaimed South African playwright Craig Higginson, and was first staged at Johannesburg’s Market Theatre in 2008.

Falls Prevention Workshop

This one-time, 2-hour workshop was developed by injury prevention professionals at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Tufts Medical Center, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The workshop offers an introduction into factors that can increase risk of falls, how to mitigate fall risk factors and information for all fall prevention programs led by injury prevention professionals at all three sites. Good Books, Good Company: a Summer Reading Program for Adults

Add some fun to your summer! It's simple: read or listen to two or more books and complete reviews online or in writing. Four lucky readers will each be awarded a gift certificate for use at a fun local business. Gift certificates will be awarded on August 6.

Summer Sing-Along with Jeannie Mack!

Songs, rhymes, dancing and more! Bring your bouncing shoes and join us on the Library Lawn for musical fun. Please register so we can send you a reminder and updates if our location changes. We do need the ages of the kids, so that Jeannie has an idea of the audience age range to prepare songs.

Teen Macrame Key Chain Workshop

This program teaches basic macrame "stitches" and will include supplies for participants to make 3 key chains, along with extra supplies so they can get a friendship bracelet started. To register call 781-786-6166 or email kbaldwin@minlib.net
