Weston is part of the West Suburban Veterans' District, sharing professional staff with the towns of Wellesley, Wayland, and Needham. Weston veterans in need of service can meet with the Director of Veterans' Services every Wednesday in Weston at either Town Hall or the Council on Aging (afternoon appointments).

Presented by the USDA Forest Service National Urban Forest Technology & Science Delivery Team and supported by Weston's Tree Advisory Group, Dr. Richard Hauer will share the benefits of systematic pruning and the status of pruning in U.S. cities. Dr. Leslie Brandt will spotlight tree maintenance practices, innovations and challenges from 10 case studies in the U.S. Through analysis of decades of systematic pruning data in Milwaukee, Randy Krouse will demonstrate the importance of pruning cycle/forest structure alignment on forest health and resilience, tree maintenance capacity, storm resilience and public safety. Finally, Paul Johnson will wrap up the discussion by highlighting current and emergent resource aids for improved urban forest management.
