Remember moving into your first apartment or home? The anticipation and excitement of finally having a space of your own? You can help people who have spent years living on the streets or in shelters feel that same warmth and excitement as they move into their new home. The COA will be putting together themed housewarming gift baskets for the Friends of Boston’s Homeless to help people get started on their journey to living hopeful, peaceful lives. Their Housing People First initiative ends homelessness by providing people with safe and stable housing first and connecting them with supports they need to rebuild their lives. Our baskets will go to those moving into their first apartments or homes.

Issues covered will include the recently released Housing Production Plan (HPP), affordable housing and housing for older adults. The meeting will be led by Weston resident Joel Angiolillo and LGDG facilitator Susan Wagner. Town government officials and board members will also attend. These meetings are open to all interested in a civil discussion of the issues with a wide variety of participants. Many adults believe they are not good writers. But writing is a skill, like cooking, driving, swimming, or language that can improve with practice. This workshop explores a few simple things participants can do every day to become more effective writers. At the completion of our time together participants should have increased confidence in their writing and have some tools that can help them become better writers. Marjorie Turner Hollman is a personal historian who loves the outdoors. A freelance writer, she has appeared on Boston's WCVB Channel 5 TV news magazine show, Chronicle, the Boston Globe, local radio and cable TV shows, and been published in local, regional, and national publications.
