Administration/Engineering Division

Paving and Roadwork

• Brown Street Sidewalk Project - construction is ongoing and the overhead utility wires will be relocated to new poles on Winter Street, then old poles will be removed. Comcast to work first and then Verizon;
• North Avenue Roadway Resurfacing Work – Additional pavement markings work required at Lexington Street intersection.  Final pavement markings work in spring 2017.  Remaining work will include seeding and final cleanup in spring 2017; 
• Resurface work on portions of Love Lane and Highland Street began on May 15th.  Anticipate reclamation work, binder pavement installation, adjustment of casting, and final paving work to take 4-6 weeks, weather dependent. 
• Coordinating resurface work for Sudbury Road with towns of Wayland and Lincoln.  Anticipate preliminary work (rock removal, erosion control, etc.), reclamation work, binder pavement installation, final paving work to take 5-10 weeks, weather dependent, beginning the end of June through July 2017.  Similar roadway reconstruction work will take place on Ripley Lane during that same period; 
• Anticipate additional roadway reconstruction work to take place later this summer, Fairview Road (drainage work), Viles Street (gas main work), and Locust Road (gas main work), but the schedule is driven by other work that needs to occur first. We continue to work on drainage designs and necessary easements before roadway work can be planned on Newton Street.  The Merriam Street gas main project is well underway, but will take most of the summer to complete and will likely end sometime in the fall

State/Utility Project Work

• Overseeing National Grid’s gas relay project on Boston Post Road (Linwood to Church Street).  Final trench paving contractor will be mobilized June 2017 to conduct final trench paving operations.  Awaiting final schedule from National Grid. Additional final trench paving work to be conducted on Town House Road, Church Street, School Street, Bogel Street, Pigeon Hill Road, Old Road, and Hilltop Road;
• Route 20 Milling and Resurfacing Project – MassDOT has been made aware of some puddle issues and is also setting the schedule for milling and overlay work on Route 20 (from School Street to I-95 Interchange);
• Route 30 (South Avenue) and Wellesley Street Signal Improvement Project - moving the overhead utility lines to new poles has continued.  The removal of existing utility poles is anticipated over the next several weeks. 
• National Grid’s gas relay projects on Merriam Street and Viles Street are underway

Ongoing Projects

• Black Oak Pump Station Project ongoing – Engineering for generator move and the final landscaping and screening is underway.  Town Engineer will conduct an outreach prior to advertising the work is completed;
• Overseeing consultants’ work on Cooks Pond Dam and Pump Rehabilitation Project.  Evaluating bids on the pump house;
• Overseeing consultants’ work on the Southside Drainage Project.  Attempting to secure the necessary easements for Phase 2 of the project.  Once completed, the permitting will be conducted with construction anticipated for spring 2018;
• Paines Hill Water Tank Improvement Project - Evaluating bids on the proposed building;
• Board of Selectmen approved gas relay projects by National Grid for Summer Street and Locust Road which are scheduled to occur this construction season (2017)

Consultant Work

• Overseeing consultants’ work on several sidewalk feasibility studies, the plans of which are available for viewing online:
  • Warren Avenue Sidewalk Project - DPW has reached out to two abutters of the project that require easements 
  • Merriam Street Sidewalk Project - several easement issues still exist, the project has gone before the Conservation Commission  
  • Highland Street Sidewalk Project is on hold.  Outreach by Traffic & Sidewalk Committee conducted
• Overseeing consultants’ work on concept sidewalk plan for Ash Street.  Outreach by Traffic & Sidewalk Committee needs to be conducted;
• Overseeing consultant’s work on the modification of the Boston Post Road / Wellesley Street intersection study and the Boston Post Road / School Street intersection study.  Anticipate submitting project to the state as a TIP project;
• Church Street Pedestrian Railing - Construction has begun and work is anticipated to be completed mid-June 2017;  
• Overseeing consultant design work for drainage work for construction season 2016 (Newton Street, Merriam Street, and Fairview/Montvale roads area). Continued work to secure required easements on Newton Street and continued to work on the design at Fairview and Montvale roads area;
• Overseeing consultant concept / design work for Town Center Improvement Project.  Survey and drainage inspection is underway and the design contract has been executed;

Engineering

• Currently reviewing 11 Stormwater Permits;
• Currently issued 59 Stormwater permits which also requires construction inspection

Park and Cemetery Division

• Conducted 3 funeral service(s);
• Removed tree limbs and debris from cemeteries;
• Cutting at Cemeteries and Parks continue in preparation for Memorial Day;
• Work continued on Cemetery Conservation contract at Farmers Burial Ground

Highway/Stormwater Division

• Patching various areas;
• Repair of drainage infrastructure (basin repairs) at various locations; 
• Worked with paving contractor at Love Lane and Highland Street;
• Brush dump cleanup;
• Trim and clean islands;
• Assist Water Division; 
• Sweep streets for Memorial Day celebrations;
• Sign, mailbox, and fence repairs
