Star of the day, who will it be?

OK, it's us. It is totally us. This week, some of our librarians gained celebrity status, 8 books moved on to the next round in our March Madness: Battle of the Books, and the AIC gives you the chance to become a Jazz groupie. Read on to find out more.

PS. Bonus points to newsletter subscribers "of a certain age" that got the VERY New England reference in the title.

Your votes will hold the key!

After some fierce battles in our March Madness: Battle of the Books competition, we're down to the quarter-finals. "The Push" shoved "Leave the World Behind" off the court, and "The Kiss Quotient" certainly had the winning formula. Did your favorite book make the cut?

We need your votes to see which books advance to the semifinals. Stop by the library to fill out a paper ballot or vote online at https://forms.gle/BCj6JKkVA6usH7gA8.

Get to know a little more about the library with some newly-minted TV stars

Our charismatic Town Manager, Leon Gaumond, honored the library by asking us to be his first guests in more than two years on the latest episode of "Under the Coupula." If you haven't already seen it on Weston Media Center's Verizon channel 41 & 45 or Comcast channel 8 & 9 (and who hasn't with this kind of star power being featured?!), you can learn more about what makes the Library Director and Assistant Director tick by watching this episode online on Weston Media Center's streaming platform.

We also offer up a quick overview of how to use our most popular digital library services starting at just shy of 30 minutes in. Come for a glimpse into the lives of these super celebrities, stay for the free eBooks.

Got royalty in your family tree? Maybe someone of influence? Or maybe not?

Genealogy is fun. Some people find out that they have royal blood running through their veins. Other folks find out that their great, great, great grandfather married his first cousin just like some royal families did in bygone eras...but without the crown...or title (true story for this librarian). Either way, join us for the latest Zoom program in our "It's All Relative" series on March 16 at 7 PM.

This talk illustrates how to move beyond the traditional sources of just names and dates and use social history to learn what a typical day, or not-so-typical day, was like in your ancestor's life. What did your ancestors eat or wear, what was their daily life like, why did they do the things they did?

Discover where to find a variety of resources that answer these questions and provide rich context to bring your ancestor's history to life. Speaker Pamela Holland is a professional genealogist whose specialties include Irish and genetic genealogy. Register for this Zoom program today.
