2021 Roadway Reconstruction Program
Assuming the FY22 Operating Budget is approved and utility work is appropriately coordinated and completed, the following roads are expected to be worked on this construction season. This also includes crack and chip sealing programs. Also note the gas main work being completed by National Grid in the utility work section below:
- Merriam Street (Sunset to Westland) - pavement markings leftover from the 2020 season
- Ash Street at time of sidewalk installation (if approved)
- Kings Grant Road after drainage work is complete
- Spruce Hill Road
- Bay State Road
- Buckskin Road
- Newton Street
- Spring Road
- Wellesley Street (milling)
- Ridgeway Road (milling)
- Linden Circle
- Stonecroft Road
- Winter Street (section)
- Hallett Hill Road
- Bittersweet Road (gas work underway)
- Hickory Road (gas work to start soon)
- Briar Lane (gas work completed)
- Stony Brook Road
- Old Colony Road
- Ferndale Road
- Columbine Road
- Dean Road
- Chiltern Road (gas work underway)
- Lantern Road
- Old Coach Road
- Longmeadow Lane
- Walnut Street (section)
Road Cutting after Paving Moratorium
Once paving is completed on any roadway in Weston, a five-year moratorium on pavement cutting is placed on that road. This is done to protect the investment made by taxpayers. A five-year
schedule of anticipated roadway reconstruction is available on the DPW's web page under Capital Improvement Projects.
Town Center Improvement Project Ongoing Work
Eversource - all service connections are done. Following is the next order of work, anticipated to occur over the next several weeks:
- overhead lines and other overhead infrastructure to be removed
- pole bracing, after line removal
- removal of poles anticipated for May
Comcast – all service connections are done and overhead lines will be removed from top to bottom, starting with Eversource. Anticipated mid-April
Verizon – Splicing is continuing/underway. Once completed, they will be scheduling cutover to the new backbone and terminating the old system and then removing it. Verizon anticipates being completed in April.
Town Fiber – completed
Crown Castle - Overhead Line (old NStar line) –Overhead lines need to be relocated into conduits and overhead lines removed;
Permanent Signs - work continues
Hardscaping - Cobble work continues, as does loaming
Outstanding work - curbing and sidewalk, which is utility pole dependent; creating the new parks, which is anticipated to begin when weather breaks; final paving and pavement markings; final landscaping
Traffic Management Plans are modified daily to maximize available parking for the businesses
