The WPL will be closed 9/5-9/7 for Labor Day Weekend

Yikes! Is summer almost over already?

There is a little fable by Aesop called The Ant and the Grasshopper that tells the story of a a grasshopper that spent all summer singing instead of preparing for winter, like the industrious ant. While we love people that plan ahead, the weather has been so nice lately that we really can't blame you if you put off some of those summer responsibilities like our friend the grasshopper. The good news is that it isn't too late and the WPL is here is get you ready for autumn! Keep reading to find out how.

Walk tall, act fine- just don't get one!

Remember that old David Bowie song, "Golden Years"? Mr. Bowie instructs listeners to "Never look back, walk tall, act fine." We swear the next line was supposed to be about returning your library books on time so you also don't get a fine. Well, maybe not... but it is still good advice!

After a long hiatus, fines will be back in place September 8th. So please return items or contact the library if you think your items may be overdue. We are happy to help you renew or work with you to make sure your due dates aren't killing your vibe.

The library is quarantining returned materials, so don't worry if returned items still appear on your record up to a week after putting them in the outdoor book drop. When we check in your items, they will be backdated so that they do not accrue fines while they chill in isolation.

Want some totally fine-free tunes while you're collecting your library materials from around the house? Check out our digital music services Hoopla and Freegal.

museum passes

End of summer day trips for a reduced price with museum passes

Many museums and parks have resumed accepting library passes. Reserve one today by visiting our museum pass page. Once you have reserved your pass, you can arrange for pickup by calling the Reference Desk at 781.786.6150. Please note that patrons will need to arrange for timed entry directly with the museum you wish to visit. We recommend taking care of that after reserving your pass, but before picking it up at the library.

September Book Group titles available now!

Solo reading is awesome, but we have a feeling you might be hankering for some lively discussion. If so, please join us for one of our virtual book clubs. All books are available for curbside pickup, at the Circulation Desk, and as eBooks.
