Local and Global Discussion Group: Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking
Thursday, March 11, 2021
From salted nuts to the shirts we put on our
backs, most of us are consumers of goods
bearing the taint of modern human slavery.
Then there is the murky, hyperviolent world of
organ trafficking, which thrives not only in less
advantaged parts of the world such as Africa,
Eastern Europe, South Asia and Mexico, but
within our own borders as well. This month we’ll
talk about “modern” human slavery with its
sophisticated worldwide networks of
procurement and trafficking operations and
how it differs from traditional systems.
The meeting is open to anyone who is
interested in a civil discussion of the issues with
wide participation from a variety of individuals.
