Friday, March 26, 2021
Join us to learn about 20th century Brazilian architect Oscar Neimeyer who was the main architect for the city of Brazilia as well as buildings in other parts of the world, including Spain, Italy, Portugal and the United States, where he collaborated on the UN Headquarters in New York. Due to his leftist leanings, which didn’t go over very well with the military dictatorship that ruled Brazil starting in 1964, Niemeyer spent 20 years in exile in Paris. He died in Rio de Janeiro in 2012 at the age of 104, as a widower, having married for the second time on his 99th birthday. Contact the COA to sign up 781 786 6280.
