Deer management is only one of the many programs the Commission has implemented to fulfill its mission of managing Weston's natural resources for the benefit of people, plants, and all wildlife. The Conservation Commission seeks a balanced approach to land management so that no single species dominates the landscape to the detriment of other flora and fauna.
Bowhunting
Since 2012, the Conservation Commission has allowed bowhunting for deer on select Conservation Land parcels by permit only. The bowhunting season in Massachusetts runs from October through December, Monday through Saturday, from sunrise to sunset.
Approved licensed hunters must pass a proficiency test in Weston and hunt from temporary tree stands only. The use of guns is prohibited on Town Conservation Land.
Please read the Deer Hunting FAQ, the Town’s Hunting Regulations (PDF), or visit MassWildlife’s website for additional hunting information. Or contact the Conservation Department at 781-786-5068 or conservation [at] westonma.gov for more information.
