Medical Reserve Corps
We have officially received our long awaited Federal Recognition as the MetroWest MRC Unit. As you know, representatives from our old 4A unit have been meeting with state and regional support for over 18 months in hopes of improving the efficiency of our volunteers and town participants. Our new unit consists of the following towns: Hudson, Marlborough, Natick, Southborough, Sudbury, Waltham, Wayland and Weston.
If you would like to join the Metrowest MRC unit and have not already done so, please register and create a profile with MA Responds. Here is the website: www.maresponds.org. Moving forward, all calls for MRC volunteers will come through the MA Responds system. If help is needed in any of the 8 towns that are part of our Unit, all qualifying volunteers will be contacted by email for non-urgent requests and in the case of a more urgent request, phone and text messages may be sent as well. As in the past, volunteers always have the option to decline a request for deployment.
We are in the process of planning a large group training to bring volunteers and town public health officials together so we can make introductions, go over the process of standard operating procedures and most importantly answer any questions you may have. We are also looking at other trainings that would be applicable to volunteers. CPR certification, Narcan administration training, Stop the Bleed and Mental Health First Aid are just a few of the suggestions that have been brought up.
Please note: the local list of volunteers (Weston Emergency Reserve Corps., WERC) that have assisted with flu/COVID vaccination clinics in the past and other and other town events will continue to be asked to participate in town-wide vaccination clinics and programs. The only difference is the clinics and events cannot claim to be an MRC event. If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for your patience and we look forward to teaming up with you!

Weston needs you! Join the Weston Emergency Reserve Corp (WERC), a volunteer organization that exists to strengthen the Town’s public health infrastructure and improve emergency readiness. It does this by arranging for the coordination, training, and mobilization of medical and non-medical volunteers to be able to support disaster preparedness, relief, and recovery, as well as to provide emergency medical assistance and public health outreach.
