Legacy Trail and Connector

The Legacy Trail, Ash Street Sidewalk, and Connectors

Design work is underway for a new walkway network that will cross the Case Estates and connect it to other points of interest. This network consists of three components:

  1. The Legacy Trail, which will travel from the Community Center to the old Summer House site on the Case Estates, with a short connector path to Wellesley Street;
  2. A walkway traveling from Wellesley Street to Ash Street across the Case Estates;
  3. A sidewalk along Ash Street that connects the Case Estates to the Weston Reservoir.

The Town has engaged the engineering firm Howard Stein Hudson for the design of this walkway network. The preliminary designs can be found below.

A series of public meetings will be held in December 2018 and January 2019 to complete permitting, gather input from various boards and the public, and finalize the design so that funding can be sought for construction at Annual Town Meeting on May 6, 2019.

Those interested in offering input are encouraged to attend the January 8, 2019 Conservation Commission public hearing.
