September 14, 2017, 12:00 PM - October 6, 2017, 5:00 PM @ The Spellman Museum of Stamps and Postal History

Have you read a book by Ernest Hemingway or F. Scott Fitzgerald lately? Did you know that these authors plus many other famous writers have had their works banned or censored in numbers of communities around the country over the years? Some were even banned from the mails by the United States Post Office. In celebration of National Banned Book Week (September 24 to 30) the Spellman Museum of Stamps & Postal History has curated a special exhibit featuring banned authors and playwrights who have been honored on both U.S. and foreign stamps plus special envelopes. Authors include T.S. Eliot, Jack London, E.B. White, James Joyce, J.R. Rowling, Malcolm X, John Steinbeck and Harriet Beecher Stow. Information about censorship done by the Post Office is also part of the display.

Each week students will learn a different programming skill and then build an Android app that applies that skill. This will culminate in a final project that will span the last few weeks of the course. In this project, students will have an opportunity to brainstorm, design, and then develop an app of their choosing.
