Update on Road Construction


Weston's DPW is moving forward with road construction activities, among other projects, and is coordinating plans with utilities for anticipated future projects. Below is a brief list of what is being developed. DPW activities are outlined in a weekly work update, which interested residents can subscribe to. Additional anticipated road work is listed in the latest update

Our DPW Department has a lot on its plate, even more now with the passage of certain articles at Annual Town Meeting. Please have patience with the unavoidable inconvenience of road work and know that this Department works very hard to carry forth its mission.

Roadway Work 

Summer Street and Old Summer Street – 

  • pavement markings anticipated in the next few weeks
  • guardrail replacement anticipated by the end of summer

Sutton Place – 

  • pavement markings (stop line) anticipated in next few weeks

Conant Road (Church Street to Woodward Lane) – 

  • minor grading remains
  • pavement markings anticipated in next few weeks

Aspen Road, Juniper Road, Cherry Brook Road (Juniper to no. 156)

  • contractor crews set to be on site 6/13 to lower structures and begin grinding

Gas Work

  • Gail Road – gas main replacement nearing completion
  • Newton Street – gas main replacement ongoing.  This will be a long project
  • Pembroke Street – gain main replacement is anticipated to occur once Gail Road is complete (appx 2-3 weeks)
  • Conant Road / Colchester Road / Pigeon Hill Road – permanent trench paving to start 6/12 and anticipated to take appx 4 days to complete
  • Wellesley Street / Bass Pond / Bogel / Rockport -  permanent trench paving anticipated to start the week of 6/18

Drainage Work 

  • Fairview Road – drainage/culvert replacement between Conant and Montvale roads work is ongoing
  • Highland Street (btwn Pine and Winter streets) - work is anticipated to begin after Fairview Road project is complete

Water Work

  • Columbine and Dean Roads Water Main Replacements
    • main work is completed
    • final trench paving anticipated in next few months
  • Chiltern Road Water Main Replacement - installation of main continues, project is anticipated to be complete end of June/early July
  • Paines Hill Tank Telemetry Building – building construction ongoing


  • Hydrant Flushing – Annual program appx 50% complete
  • Mowing and Roadside Flail Mowing Program – Seasonal Program, split time with pothole patching
  • Pothole Patching/Skinny Overlays – working to improve rideability of the roadways that are not slated for reconstruction this season

Future Work

Roadway Program - (coordinating with contractor and Town of Lincoln, end of school, and others, this will determine start time)

  • Concord Road (Merriam Street to Sudbury Road) – dependent upon status of other roadways
  • Winter Street (Route 30 to Brown Street)

Round Three – Anticipated later this summer/early fall

  • Fairview Road / Montvale Road – drainage work still outstanding
  • Glen Road – (Wellesley Street to Oak Street) – drainage work still outstanding
  • Highland Street (Pine Street to Route 30) - drainage work still outstanding
  • Wellesley Street at School Street Intersection – pending approval of Traffic & Sidewalk Committee
  • Gail Road - pending gas main replacement
  • Pembroke Road - pending gas main replacement
  • Webster Road - pending gas main replacement
  • Arrowhead Road - pending gas main replacement
  • Merriam Street -  pending culvert replacement, gas final connection, drainage rehabilitation at/about Westland Road, and new sidewalk work. Also coordinating water gate replacements at Aberdeen, which is currently under review and work is anticipated to begin within the next several days
