Road Construction Progress


The following information provides updates to various road construction projects occurring in town. To get these and other Division updates, Weston's Department of Public Works provides a weekly work update, which is available online, as well as through an email or text subscription.

State - Mass. Dept. of Transportation

Route 30/ Wellesley Street Signal Improvement Project – pavement markings have been installed and the intersection light signal with the turning movement has been activated. The next action item is to install signage. MassDOT will also complete some sidewalk paving and other miscellaneous landscape work.  The state has indicated that the work trailers along Wellesley Street will be removed in October.  

Route 20 (School Street to I-95 Interchange) Resurfacing Project – MassDOT has begun the milling of the road surface. Work is being conducted at night.  

Utility - National Grid Gas Main Work

Merriam Street Gas Main Replacement Project – National Grid is still working on services.  This should be completed by September 22nd.  

Summer Street Gas Main Replacement Project – National Grid is in the area between Cedar and Robin Hill roads.  They are making good progress and are targeting to be finished by the end of September/beginning of October.

Additional Gas Main Projects – Church Street (from Pigeon Hill to just north of the intersection), Winter Street (South Avenue to Brown Street), and Wellesley Street (Rockport Road to Bogel Street) will begin in the coming weeks. 

Town Roadway Reconstruction Projects

Merriam Street from Concord Road to Sunset Road – Schedule is not set from the contractor yet, but it is anticipated to occur mid-to-late September.  The Water Division will be changing out a hydrant this week.

Viles Street – Final paving schedule has not yet been set. Please expect delays.

Locust Road – No schedule yet, but work will be done about the same time as the Merriam Street roadway reconstruction (portion).

Sudbury Road and Ripley Lane – Pavement marking work is left, which will be done at night.  

Highland Street (portion) and Love Lane (portion) – Pavement markings remain, which will be done at night.

  • Merriam Street, Locust Road, Viles Street, Summer Street (nearing completion)

Trench Paving

  • Boston Post Road, Town House Road, Church Street, Center Street, Pigeon Hill Road, Hilltop Road, Old Road

Roadway Reconstruction

  • Sudbury Road, Ripley Lane, Highland Street (no. 215 to Boston Post Road By-pass), Love Lane (no. 58 to Boston Post Road)

Sidewalk Reconstruction

  • Wellesley Street (Rte. 30 to no. 487)

"Skinny Overlay" road patching

  • Rt. 30, Summer Street, Concord Road, Webster Road, Cherry Brook Road, Juniper Road, Glen Road, and many more locations

Catch Basin Repairs

Wall Repairs

Pedestrian Railing

  • Church Street (full replacement), North Avenue (repair work near Hobbs Brook Road)

Development and Implementation of 5-year and Operational Plans
