Road Construction Progress

The following information provides updates to various road construction projects occurring in town. To get these and other Division updates, Weston's Department of Public Works provides a weekly work update, which is available online, as well as through an email or text subscription.


State - Mass. Dept. of Transportation

Route 30/ Wellesley Street Signal Improvement Project –  final work includes sign installation, 2 driveway aprons on Rt. 30, some final sidewalk paving, miscellaneous landscaping, and demobilization. Minor traffic delays should be anticipated.


Route 20 (School Street to I-95 Interchange) Resurfacing Project – MassDOT has one more pass of paving is anticipated for Saturday morning (10/14) and pavement markings are scheduled to occur the week of the 16th, at night.  


Utility - National Grid Gas Main Work

Summer Street Gas Main Replacement Project – National Grid is in the area between Cedar and Robin Hill roads.  They are targeting to be finished the week of Oct. 16th.


Wellesley Street (town line to #699) - National Grid will be starting this project soon, expect traffic delays


Glen Road - National Grid will be starting this project soon, expect traffic delays


Conant & Colchester roads - From Sears Rd. to #50 Conant Rd. and from Conant Rd. to #32 Colchester Rd. National Grid will be starting this project soon, expect traffic delays



Town Roadway Reconstruction Projects

Merriam Street from Concord Road to Sunset Road – Binder pavement has been installed, as well as the driveway apron binder course. Work anticipated for the week of Oct. 16th is raising structures (gas gates, water gates, catch basins, etc.), install ADA sidewalk ramps, and pave finish course of pavement (targeting Friday). Afterwards, pavement marking, landscaping, and final cleanup will conclude the project.


Viles Street – Top paving course has been installed. Final course of driveway aprons, landscaping, pavement markings and clean up will finish out this project.


Locust Road – Binder pavement has been installed, as well as the driveway apron binder course. Work anticipated for the week of Oct. 16th is raising structures (gas gates, water gates, catch basins, etc.), install ADA sidewalk ramps, and pave finish course of pavement (targeting Friday). Afterwards, pavement marking, landscaping and final cleanup will conclude the project.


Crack Sealing - work is anticipated to begin Oct. 17th and last 3 days. Several roads throughout town will undergo a pavement preservation treatment, which includes sealing pavement cracks. The focus is on roadways that have been reconstructed/resurfaced within the last 10 years. This process is an important step in extending the life of the pavement


Skinny Overlay - Old Road and Concord Road, from College Pond area to Merriam Street


Sudbury Road and Ripley Lane – Pavement marking work is left, which will be done at night.  


Highland Street (portion) and Love Lane (portion) – Pavement markings remain, which will be done at night.  


Completed Work

Gas Main Replacements:

  • Merriam Street, Locust Road, Viles Street, Summer Street (nearing completion). This and the current work represents 19,855 linear feet (3.8 miles) of replaced gas mains and 134 services upgraded.

Trench Paving:

  • Boston Post Road, Town House Road, Church Street, Center Street, Pigeon Hill Road, Hilltop Road, Old Road

Roadway Reconstruction:

  • Sudbury Road, Ripley Lane, Highland Street (no. 215 to Boston Post Road By-pass), Love Lane (no. 58 to Boston Post Road). Adding in the remaining work above, Weston's DPW will have paved 18,668 linear feet of roadway (3.54 miles) this construction season

Sidewalk Reconstruction:

  • Wellesley Street (Rte. 30 to no. 487)

"Skinny Overlay" road patching:

  • Rt. 30, Summer Street, Concord Road, Webster Road, Cherry Brook Road, Juniper Road, Glen Road, and many other locations

Catch Basin Repairs 

Wall Repairs

Pedestrian Railing:

  • Church Street (full replacement), North Avenue (repair work near Hobbs Brook Road)

Development and Implementation of 5-year and Operational Plans:
