Right-of-Way Maintenance: Herbicide Application


The Town of Weston Department of Public Works intends to apply herbicides to control poison ivy (primarily) along the sidewalks in town. 

In appropriate combinations, Rodeo, Oust Extra, Escort XP, Garlon 4 Ultra and/or Polaris will be selectively applied to the foliage or trunks of target vegetation using hand-held equipment between August 28th to October 13th.  Cut stumps may be treated to prevent re-sprouts between August 28th to December 31st.  

Weston utilizes herbicides as a necessary component of their integrated vegetation management program.  The vegetation management program is a combination of cultural, physical, mechanical, and chemical management techniques that control undesirable vegetation in an ecologically sound manner.  No application shall commence more than ten days before nor conclude more than ten days after the treatment periods listed above.
