Board of the Council on Aging

The Town of Weston has two vacancies on the Board of the Council on Aging (COA).  The 13-member Board, appointed by the Board of Selectmen, meets at 8:30 a.m. on the third Thursday of the month to determine policy regarding public awareness of COA programs, intergenerational programming, transportation options for seniors, support for caregivers and increased opportunities for social interaction.

Weston’s active, engaged COA serves a diverse population, with information and referrals concerning mental and physical health, housing, health insurance, in-home assistance and computer tutoring.  COA services include transportation to medical appointments, low-cost taxi transportation, a medical loan closet, a food pantry and a wide variety of other programs to serve the needs of seniors.  The COA also offers exercise programs, numerous trips, entertainment, and intellectually stimulating programs.  More than 200 volunteers supplement the work of the COA staff.

Are you interested in getting more involved in the Weston community?  Join an energetic, active, committed Board.  Residents of all ages with an interest in senior citizens are invited to apply, especially individuals with experience in health care, marketing or development.  Interested parties should submit a volunteer application online or a send letter of interest with background information to the Board of Selectmen via email at selectmen@westonmass.org or mail to P.O. Box 378, Weston, MA  02493 by April 30, 2017.
